This season
Steven will return to work with the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra in their main series at the Barbican
performing Prokofiev Piano Concerto No 5 with
Daniele Gatti and has concerts with the City of
Birmingham Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall,
London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival
Hall, the Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra,
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the
BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra both in Scotland
and at the Proms where he will perform the Beethoven
Triple Concerto with Alban Gerhardt and Elizabeth
Batiashvili.
Recital appearances
include Wigmore Hall, Proms chamber music, Bridgewater
Hall in Manchester and at the Edinburgh Festival
with fellow pianist Paul Lewis. Outside the UK
he will perform Mozart Piano Concerto K 459 at
the Prague Autumn Festival and return to the Tapiola
Sinfonietta in Finland to perform Finzi and Beethoven.
He will give a recital tour of the West Coast
of the United States including concerts at Los
Angeles and San Francisco and in May will give
a recital at the Konzerthaus in Vienna for the
Vienna Festival. A committed chamber musician,
Steven continues his partnership with German cellist
Alban Gerhardt for recitals at the Wigmore Hall,
Bridgewater Hall and abroad in Eindhoven and Germany.
Steven's
recording of Piano Concertos by Tovey and Mackenzie
in Hyperion's "Romantic Piano Concerto Series"
was released in August 1998 to great critical
acclaim: "No praise can be too high for Steven
Osborne's by turns outstandingly sensitive and
dashing contribution. A super disc", (Gramophone,
October 1998). His second CD for Hyperion, solo
works by the contemporary Russian composer Kapustin
was released last May and has been nominated for
a Shallplattenpreis in Germany. He released a
CD of solo works by Ravel for Musical Heritage
in America were last spring and is due to return
to the recording studio with Hyperion later this
year to record the complete Vingt regards sur
l'enfant Jesus.
Steven
Osborne's appearance at the 2002 Miami International
Piano Festival of Discovery marks his Debut
in South Florida.
