Mihaela Ursuleasa
made several important debuts last season: She
performed Liszt's Totentanz with the Bamberg Symphony
Orchestra under Gerd Albrecht, and her interpretation
impressed in such a way that she was immediately
re-invited to give a recital in July 2001. She
also appeared for the first time with the Wiener
Kammerphilharmonie at the Schubertiade Festival
and again was immediately re-invited for the summer
of 2001. Furthermore, at short notice Mihaela
Uruleasa joined the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields
with Sir Neville Marriner to play Beethoven's
4th Piano Concerto on their tour of Germany. Again
this was a successful collaboration, and further
concerts with the Academy will take place in Italy
during September 2000.
Important
concerts in the future include her London debut
in March 2002 where she will give a recital in
the Harrods International Piano Series at the
Queen Elizabeth Hall, a recital in Tokyo in September
2001, and her first appearance with the Cincinnati
Symphony Orchestra under their new Music Director,
Paavo Järvi.
A keen
chamber musician, Mihaela Ursuleasa has found
an inspiring partner in cellist Tanja Tetzlaff,
and together, they recently recorded Schumann
Stücke im Volkston. Other chamber music partners
include violinist Mirijam Contzen and the Hugo
Wolff Quartet.
Mihaela
Ursuleasa's appearance at the 2002 Miami International
Piano Festival of Discovery will mark her
Debut in South Florida.
