Welcome to the Exciting New 2015 Season
A RECAP OR OUR 2013-2014 CONCERT SEASON:
OUR OUTSTANDING 2013-2014 SEASON CLIMAXED WITH AN INNOVATIVE CONCERT THAT COMBINED OPERA AND VIRTUOSO PIANO TRANSCRIPTIONS-A PERFORMANCE SO WELL RECEIVED THAT WE WILL STAGE A REPRISE IN 2015 WITH NEW SELECTIONS.
The Miami International Piano Festival wrapped up its 12 concert 2013-2014 season with an exciting mix of vocal artistry and piano virtuosity. Eight gifted singers, along with pianists Kemal Gekic and Vincenzo Maltempo, presented a program of arias by Verdi, Mozart, Bellini, Wagner and others, and brilliant solo piano works inspired by them. This concert, a collaboration with the studio of acclaimed Miami vocal coach Manny Perez, concluded our Discovery Series at The Colony Theatre in Miami Beach. The 2014 Discovery Series also presented four international artists who speak with a unique and compelling musical voice: KOTARO FUKUMA (Japan), NICK VAN BLOSS (England), LLEWELLYN SANCHEZ-WERNER(USA) and ZLATA CHOCHIEVA (Russia).
Our season got kicked off on November 17, 2014 with our four concert “Sundays at Five” held at the beautiful and intimate Aventura Arts and Cultural Center. Pianists throughout the season were: MISHA DACIC (Serbia), FABIO MARTINO (Brazil), CLAUDIO MARTINEZ-MEHNER (Spain), and PAVEL NERSESSIAN (Russia).
In March we offered three concerts themed “The Romantic Spectrum” on successive nights at our Broward Center for the Performing Arts Master Series. Programs dedicated to a single composer were performed by pianists who have been recognized as their superlative interpreters – CHOPIN:PIETRO DE MARIA (Italy), LISZT: BALAZS SZOKOLAY (Hungary), SCHUMANN:AMIR KATZ (Israel).
All of our concerts were introduced by Professor Frank Cooper, who provided rich historical context and illuminating insights into the composers and their works.
