Our 17th annual season of exquisite programming continues with the final recital in our Aventura Cultural Series/Classical Sundays at Five Series at The Aventura Arts and Cultural Center. Russian pianist Pavel Nersessian will perform a program of Schubert, Schubert/Liszt and Liszt. Currently a Professor of Piano at Boston University, Nersessian is widely regarded as one of the finest pianists of his generation.

FIVE EXCEPTIONAL PIANO RECITALS AND A SPECTACULAR NIGHT OF OPERATIC ARIAS AND VIRTUOSO PIANO TRANSCRIPTIONS INSPIRED BY THEM
The Discovery Series is the crown jewel of our Festival, presenting brilliant emerging artists who speak with a unique and compelling musical voice. They are not main stream and are willing to be adventurous and often daring in expressing their artistic vision, offering our audiences an aesthetic and emotional experience not available from “establishment” concert programming. This year we are introducing four of our finest discoveries and will conclude on May 18th with an innovative and exciting program, “The Marriage and Magic of Opera and Piano Transcriptions”, a collaboration with the studio of the acclaimed Miami vocal coach Manny Perez.

“The Marriage and Magic of Opera & Piano Transcriptions”
A collaborative event with the Vocal Studio of Manny Perez
This concert will present vocal performances of beloved arias by Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, Wagner and others combined with brilliant virtuoso piano transcriptions of Franz Liszt, Francesco Libetta and Kemal Gekic based on operatic themes. PROGRAM
The Miami International Piano Festival is held at select world-class performance venues in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Programming every season includes:
- The intimate Salon Series – Four Classical Sundays at Five, presented at the beautiful Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.
- The Master Series, at the acoustically perfect Amaturo Theatre of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts explores an entire period in music or focusses on a composer.
- The Discovery Series, the Festival’s crown jewel, held at the beautifully restored, Art Decco gem, the Colony Theatre on Miami Beach. Presented in four consecutive days in May, the Discovery Series showcase piano recitals by newly discovered artists and prodigies.
We are honored to present Professor Frank Cooper as Lecturer in Residence to enhance the complete Festival Experience.
The Miami International Piano Festival is unique in that we strive to assist the musicians as they develop their careers. This approach, attracts an enormous wealth of talent which translates into amazing concert experiences for our appreciative audience.
Each newly discovered artist is provided with career guidance and exposure, which for some, has resulted in coveted awards such as the Gilmore Award (the highest recognition bestowed on any pianist) and signed contracts with notable management agencies as well as prestigious recording opportunities.
