Born in Algeria and based in Canada since 2006, Mehdi Ghazi is an internationally acclaimed pianist recognized for his poetic artistry, refined musicianship, and expressive performances. The New York Times described him as a “sensitive pianist,” while Montreal's La Presse praised his ability to communicate emotion with an artistry “evoking Wilhelm Kempff.”

Ghazi is a laureate of numerous international competitions, including the 2020 Campillos International Piano Competition (Spain), where he was a prize winner, the Hilton Head International Piano Competition (USA), and the 2018 Orford Music Award, where he received Second Prize and the Audience Award. In 2015, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) named him one of “30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30.”

As a soloist and chamber musician, Ghazi has performed throughout Europe, North America, and North Africa, making an early international debut at the age of twelve in UNESCO's Great Hall in Paris. He has collaborated with distinguished conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Yoav Talmi, John Morris Russell, Pavel Baleff, and Raffi Armenian, and has shared the stage with artists such as Conrad Tao, Valeriy Sokolov, Aleksey Shadrin, and Julie Nasrallah. In 2010, he was invited by the Glenn Gould Foundation to perform before the Governor General of Canada in a tribute to Glenn Gould.

After immigrating to Canada, Ghazi earned numerous national awards, including the Sylva Gelber Award, First Prize at the Festival de musique classique du Bas-Richelieu, and First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition. He graduated with highest honors from both the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and The Glenn Gould School, studying with John Perry, André Laplante, Marc Durand, and Jean Saulnier. He also participated in masterclasses with renowned artists including Daniel Barenboim, Leon Fleisher, Emanuel Ax, Menahem Pressler, Dang Thai Son, Michel Béroff, Jean-Philippe Collard, Robert McDonald, and John O'Conor. Ghazi later completed a Doctorate in Piano Performance at the Université de Montréal under Jean Saulnier.
